And by using the proper hair care techniques and not making major mistakes you can. In this article, I’ll go over some major mistakes you should avoid and inform you about the dangers of combing wet hair in the shower.

Is It Harmful To Comb Your Hair While Showering?
Wet hair is at it’s weakest when wet. Combing wet hair you are putting tension on the strands thus your hair stretches and could snap. But if you use a wide tooth comb which has smooth teeth and no sharp edges along with a conditioner or detangling spray you can comb through your hair very slowly with little to no damage.
By using the best brushes you can avoid split end damage to your hair. In a perfect world combing through wet hair is not ideal and styling and brushing wet hair is definitely not good. The following are some great hair tips and techniques you should know to save your hair.
Towel drying after showing
Most styling products will direct you to use them on towel dried hair, but too much vigorous rubbing with a towel will roughen up the cuticle, leading to dull hair, frizz, and even breakage. A cotton towel is very rough on your hair and can cause breakage. It’s better to use a soft t-shirt for example or using a blotting technique if you must use a cotton towel. Be sure to shake the strands with your fingers to remove excess water. Your hair will take longer to dry, but in the long run it will be much healthier.
Mending your split ends
Your hair is actually dead. It’s not alive so it can’t grow back together. Once your hair has split ends, there is no product that can mend it. The only solution for split ends is either to prevent them in the first place or to cut off the ends of your hair. You can try to smooth over split ends by using a product with beeswax or a serum with Argan oil. Apply to your split ends for a temporary solution for minimizing visibly broken ends.
HSI Heat Protection Bfore You Style
As you well know heat is one of your hair’s most damaging elements. But who can live without blow drying, curling, or straightening, right? You should always use a heat-protective aid to shield hair strands and smooth cuticles.
I like HSI Professional Argan Oil Heat Protector. Just use before blow drying and let hair air dry until just damp. Remember to use your fingers to shake excess water from your hair to speed up the process. Also it’s a great idea to set your blow dryer for a lower heat setting to avoid habitual heat damage. The reason I like HSI is because it protects hair from exposure to heat up to 450 F. HSI’s Argan oil hair protective is a weightless mist that can be used with flat irons, blow dryers and curling wands before styling. This product will help you safely style and free of worries. Plus the HSI light thermal protection spray can be also used as a leave in conditioning serum.
Always use good tools. In the long run they usually last longer and will take care of you hair better. For example, why take the chance on purchasing a cheap plastic comb that my have sharp edges or molding seams that can rip at your hair? For shower I usually like combs infused with an oil to help with sliding through hair.
Cricket Shower Comb With Keratin
Cricket’s Ultra Smooth Combs are infused with Keratin protein and a special blend of Argan and Olive Oils to reduce frizz without leaving any residue on hands. Argan and olive oils hydrate and repair damaged hair while smoothing the cuticula for a conditioned, healthy look. Keratin improves strength, brilliance and manageability while reducing frizz. Each of these combs is ergonomically designed to glide easily through the hair. This one is 2.75 inches tall x 9.75 inches long and is wonderful for detangling wet or dry hair. Especially effective on thick, long hair.
Cricket Shower Comb With Coconut Oil
Another favorite is the Cricket Ultra Smooth Coconut Conditioning Comb. Coconut oil is known as the miracle hair treatment that de-frizzes and replenishes hair with nutrient glowing goodness. Each comb has been infused with hydrating coconut oil and keratin protein to help promote healthier looking hair with improved manageability and shine.
Wet Brush Detangling Comb For The shower
And I can’t leave out the Wetbrush Detangling Comb, Black by Wet Brush, of course.
Acure Water Based Shampoo
Last great tips is tip go with water-based and sulfate-free shampoos that clean but do not strip hair from oils and moisture. What I love about Acure Curiously Clarifying Lemongrass shampoo is it’s an all natural chemical-free shampoo that will not make your hair feel greasy or weight it down with too much oil. Its’ good for all hair types and has a dose of organic oils infused with lemongrass. At the time of this writing the indgrediants are as follows:
water (aqua), sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate, cocamidopropyl betaine, betaine, glycerin, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, cocoglucosides hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, sodium cocoyl glutamate, levulinic acid, fragrance (parfum), guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, potassium sorbate, sodium levulinate, sodium benzoate, citric acid, ethanol, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, rubus fruticosus (blackberry) fruit extract, rosa canina fruit extract, punica granatum extract, euterpe oleracea fruit extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, calendula officinalis flower extract, aspalathus linearis leaf extract, tocopheryl acetate, isomalt, cymbopogon schoenanthus leaf extract, lecithin, argania spinosa sprout cell extract.
