What To Look For In A Quality Paddle Brush
Many of us think very hard about hair care in order to find the best products for our hair type. But how many of us have actually chosen a hairbrush in the same way? It make since then to spend some money on a quality brush that will last for years, right?

- QUALITY CONSTRUCTION: You want a paddle brush crafted from durable and premium quality material. Material that can take the heat from a hair dryer. Keep in mind there is no way a $5.00 brush is going to have the same fit and finish as a higher dollar brush. There are going to be places on the brush where it’s not smooth and you are going to see imperfections. These are all places where your hair can get caught and pulled out or damaged.
- ONE PIECE HANDLE: Uniquely designed one piece handle that won’t break. If you have long hair and you put tension on the handle while brushing you can easily snap a two piece cheap plastic handle.
- BALL TIPPED: Ball-tipped, heat and chemical resistant brush with a non-slip handle. The ball-tipped ends help protect your scalp from damage. - DOES NOT SMELL: You do not want a brush that smells of chemicals. Many cheaper brushes sometimes have a heavy chemical smell. I believe this has to due with where they are manufactured, as some countries do not have strict environmental constrains and allow for a greater latitude in the manufacturing process.
- COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Germany makes excellent brushes, as does England. These are the countries that have an excellent reputation for making very high quality brushes. You may end up paying more but you get consistent quality. Meaning if you choose to buy a brush 5 or 6 years later from the same company you will most likely get the same high quality brush.
- PRICE: Handmade brushes can cost 2-3x the price of a machine-made brush, but will last longer. If it’s a boar brush then a handmade brush will lose fewer bristles over time. Always buy from trusted well know manufactures.
